This procedure allows physicians to view the
bile and pancreatic ducts and formulate a diagnosis and establish the therapy
or palliation for the disease affecting these areas.
In addition to traditional endoscopy, our Center also performs choledoscopies,
bile duct endoscopies that highlight new formations of the common bile duct,
to obtain biopsy samples and intraductal ultrasound (IDUS) for diagnosis and
local staging of bile neoplasias.
All these endoscopies are performed in the presence of an anesthesiologist or
a dedicated anesthesia nurse in charge of monitoring patient sedation during
the test and the recovery phase.
