The Clinical Psychology Service is an integral
part of ISMETT's multidisciplinary team.
Goals
The goal of the psychology consult
is to reduce the risk of pre- and post-op psychological complications
due to:
Relapse of previous psychic disorders.
Issues linked to personality.
External factors such as lack of family
support.
Internal factors such as decreased compliance
and/or poor motivation to comply with treatment and therapies.
Services
The illness is an experience that implies a period
of somatic and psychic crisis and that often has multiple aspects
in terms of primary disease seriousness and the meaning that
the patient gives to the disease. This can affect the life of
patients and their families.
For this reason the Clinical Psychology Service,
in addition to providing necessary support also assesses weak
and/or strong issues requiring support. Studying and assessing
psychic aspects is extremely important to prevent neglected
behaviors from degenerating into psychic discomfort and psychological
distress for patients and families.
In case of an organ transplant the first standard
psychological assessment aims to highlight among other aspects,
absolute
and relative contraindications.
