The clinical activity is performed by a multidisciplinary
team working with physicians specialized in different areas of
transplantation medicine and surgery, and vital organ failure
(liver, kidney, heart, lung and pancreas). The team establishes
custom therapeutic programs for each patient.
All transplant techniques, involving both cadaveric and living
donors, are performed at ISMETT, also for pediatric patients.
Right now, ISMETT is in the process of initiating a pancreas and
pancreatic cell transplant program. The abdominal and thoracic
transplant programs fall within the scope of the high-specialty
hepatology, interventional radiology and endoscopy, abdominal
surgery, nephrology, cardiology, and cardiac surgery aiming at
preventing and treating heart, liver, and kidney failure.
