Research Coordinator

The Research Coordinator is a new professional nursing figure also introduced for the first time in Italy at ISMETT. The RC plays a prime role in achieving the goals of a research study. The RC is well acquainted with protocols and assesses their applicability, conducts the screening required for patient enrollment in a study, is familiar with the clinical and family history of the patients, and becomes their main reference point for explanations of the study and related issues. The RC is the interface between the nursing staff and other professional figures, interpreting protocol applications and providing answers on the study’s progress. The RC manages contacts with other clinical facilities with which collaborations have been established.
