ISMETT Live Streaming for the National Congress of Interventional Cardiology

ISMETT is in the spotlight at the National Congress organized by the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology (GISE) and the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI).  The Congress, underway in Milan, gathers top-level experts in the field from around the world. ISMETT was selected among 6 national and international centers to perform, in live–streaming, two transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVI), an innovative intervention that consists in a prosthetic implantation in the aortic valve, through a percutaneous arterial access. The live streaming took place in the plenary room on the first day of the congress. Approximately 1,000 European and North American faculty members viewed the streaming.

“ISMETT is in the spotlight because we have achieved a very high level in this field,” said Dr. Caterina Gandolfo, Director of ISMETT Interventional Cardiology.

Today, TAVI is an increasingly used procedure, especially in elderly patients or patients with extremely complex conditions who cannot undergo a major surgery.

TAVI has revolutionized the treatment of aortic valve stenosis. Inoperable or high-risk patients who cannot undergo traditional surgery today can be treated with a safe and effective, minimally invasive procedure. ISMETT Interventional Cardiology is one of the Italian units with the highest volume of TAVI performed, with excellent outcomes in terms of effectiveness of care and patient safety.
