Pediatric Interventional Radiology

A pediatric interventional radiology program is active at ISMETT. Radiology diagnostic procedures for children, including CT scans, MRI, ultrasounds, nuclear medicine studies and traditional diagnostic radiology are performed at ISMETT. In patients aged only a few months, many of these procedures are performed under general anesthesia.
Interventional radiology procedures performed on pediatric patients include:
- Angiography and diagnostic venography.
- Angioplasty.
- Positioning of vascular stents.
- Treatment of liver tumors.
- Biliary tract drainage.
- Bilioplasty.
- Abdominal organ biopsies.
- Caval stent placement.
