As part of the pediatric liver transplant program, the Unit deals with children and pediatric patients affected with:

• Cirrhosis secondary to cholestasis.
• Cirrhosis for other causes.
• Metabolic diseases.
• Liver tumors.
• Acute liver failure.

Transplants are performed with various techniques and grafts (whole/reduced liver, split liver and living donors).

Pediatric liver transplants are performed in combination with other organs, such as kidney or intestine.
