Dr. Vitulo supports ISMETT medical and surgical departments in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases with a medical, rehabilitative, instrumental (respiratory functional study and mechanical ventilation) and endoscopic (diagnostic and operational bronchoscopy) approaches.

Main areas of clinical activity:

  • Lung transplantation, evaluation of the indication and post-operative management
    Advanced respiratory failure secondary to degenerative pulmonary, septic, inflammatory, or vascular diseases
  • Pulmonary hypertension, diagnosis and medical treatment

The Pneumology Unit is provided with an experimental surgery laboratory to test new procedures and treatments in the field of lung preservation during the procurement process for the purpose of transplantation. It is involved in international multicentric pharmacology trials of new molecules for the treatment of degenerative lung and vascular diseases. It manages theoretical and practical bronchoscopy courses with the support of the Fiandaca Simulation Center, and courses on the diagnosis and treatment of arterial pulmonary hypertension.
