At ISMETT we provide the complete surgical treatment of malignant diseases of the lung, mediastinum, pleura, chest wall and esophagus. The majority of major surgical operations are performed with a minimally invasive approach. The Division of thoracic surgery also provides diagnostic and endoscopy (including EBUS) services for a complete pre-operative diagnosis and staging of disease. 

All cases are discussed in a multidisciplinary fashion according to the indications of the regional PDTA. 

The Division of Thoracic Surgery at ISMETT is the center of reference of the Region of Sicily for the “Screening, early diagnosis, e minimally invasive treatment of lung , oesophageal and mediastinal diseases” (D.A. n. 1030, 29-5-2019).
