Medical Oncology
Medical Oncology at IRCCS ISMETT provides comprehensive care for patients with primary and secondary abdominal and thoracic malignancies, whether or not related to organ transplantation.
In most cases, these patients require integrated treatment strategies to increase the likelihood of recovery and minimize the risk of recurrence. These strategies often include systemic medical therapy administered before or after surgery.
IRCCS ISMETT offers a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the comprehensive management of oncology patients requiring surgical treatment. The team provides a personalized diagnostic and therapeutic path while ensuring timely care to achieve the best outcomes.
IRCCS ISMETT features a dedicated area for the administration of systemic anticancer therapies on a Day Service basis, providing a comfortable and safe environment where oncologists, nurses, and pharmacists work alongside specialists in vascular access management, as well as psychological, rehabilitative, and nutritional support for oncology patients.
The clinical staff is trained according to standards of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, IRCCS ISMETT’s partner institution.
