At IRCCS ISMETT, nurses are not simply caregivers: they are leaders in the delivery and coordination of patient care. Through career development pathways and internationally recognized standards, our nurses take on advanced clinical and leadership roles, including:

• Specialized roles: Bed Manager, Case Manager, Pain Nurse, Infection Control Nurse, and Clinical Nurse Educator.
• Education and training: ISMETT hosts the only three-year Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing taught in English at the University of Palermo, providing students with training opportunities across all hospital units.
• Recognition and professional excellence: The dedication and expertise of our nursing team are supported and celebrated through initiatives such as the Magnet Recognition Program and the DAISY Award.

The Physiotherapy Service helps patients regain the highest possible level of independence, taking into account their overall clinical condition and postoperative needs. The service is organized into two key areas:

• Physical Physiotherapy: Focused on restoring motor and functional abilities affected by disease, trauma, or complex surgical procedures.
• Respiratory Physiotherapy: Specialized in supporting the recovery and optimization of pulmonary function, essential for congenital and acquired conditions, particularly throughout the pre- and post-transplant care pathway.

Our technicians (in Medical Radiology, Biomedical Lab, Neurophysiology, etc. ) are a pillar of ISMETT’s activity.

• Technical expertise: They operate with state-of-the-art technologies and equipment to ensure diagnostic accuracy, treatment safety, and high-quality patient care.
• Education and research: Through partnerships with the University of Palermo, our technicians contribute to the training of students enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs in technical healthcare professions, supporting the development of future specialists.
