The Unit provides comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital malformations and acquired hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical conditions. As a specialized referral center, the Unit manages a wide range of diseases, including biliary atresia, choledochal cysts, hepatoblastoma, and other benign and malignant disorders of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas.
In addition, the Unit specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension in pediatric patients. Services include endoscopic management of esophageal varices, portography, portal pressure measurement, and surgical procedures such as mesoportal (meso-Rex) shunt and portosystemic shunt.
