Hepatology and Gastroenterology

Clinical services are provided an inpatient and outpatient setting, focusing on the selection, evaluation, and placement of liver transplant candidates on the waiting list; postoperative follow-up of liver transplant recipients; and selection and evaluation of patients eligible for highly specialized procedures, including:

• Portal hypertension (TIPS, variceal embolization, splenic artery embolization, and portal vein recanalization).
• Liver tumors (locoregional treatments with radiofrequency ablation, percutaneous ethanol injection, embolization, chemoembolization, and right portal vein branch embolization in preparation for the resection of large liver tumors).
• Pancreatic and biliary tract diseases (drainage, stricture dilation, stone removal, and biopsies).
