At IRCCS ISMETT, the care pathway places patients at the center, going beyond the purely biological aspects of treatment to embrace each person’s psychological and physical well-being, dignity, and individual needs. Our approach adapts to different needs related to age, gender, culture, and vulnerability through concrete measures designed to foster a strong therapeutic partnership between patients, families, and health care providers.
- Multicultural Approach and WelcomeWe respect patients’ cultural and religious identity providing access to cultural mediators upon request and offering differentiated hospital menus, including Halal, Kosher, and vegetarian options..
- Respect for Natural Body Rhythms
We promote patient comfort and recovery protecting nighttime rest through measures that reduce noise and unnecessary lighting (Quiet Time) and by offering flexibility in personal hygiene and breakfast schedules. - Pediatric Care and Vulnerable Patients
- Women’s Care Pathway
An outpatient care pathway is in place to protect women’s privacy and ensure a safer and more respectful environment. It provides for the presence of a family member during consultations and non-invasive procedures performed by a single male healthcare professional. If a male healthcare professional is alone with a female patient and no family member is present, a second healthcare professional—preferably female—must be requested. In the absence of a second professional, the procedure, including a medical examination, cannot proceed. - Psychological Support and Protection
We provide psychological counseling to support patients in managing pain and serious illnesses. In addition, IRCCS ISMETT activates all legally required procedures to protect and assist women who are victims of violence, ensuring privacy and access to protected care pathways. - Family Presence
We consider family members an integral part of the care process and guarantee a minimum visiting time of six hours per day in inpatient wards.. - Communication and Transparency
We are committed to providing multilingual educational materials and clinical outcome reports, enabling patients to actively participate in and better understand their healthcare journey..
We ensure 24/7 presence of a parent (rooming-in) and provide dedicated areas for play and activities. For elderly and vulnerable patients, we implement specific fall prevention protocols and encourage the use of personal aids (such as glasses and hearing devices) to reduce disorientation.
