Dott. Pilato Michele

Dr. Michele Pilato is Head of the Department for diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases and heart transplantation at IRCCS ISMETT. He joined IRCCS ISMETT as a cardiac surgeon in April 2004 and has served as Head of Cardiac Surgery since December 2005.

He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Palermo in 1985 and completed two fellowships in Cardiovascular Surgery at the Texas Heart Institute, and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Pilato also served as Registrar in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. He completed his residency in vascular surgery at the University of Catania and in cardiovascular surgery at the University of Palermo. From 1997 to 2004, he was Head of the Cardiovascular Surgery Unit of Villa Maria Eleonora Hospital in Palermo.

Dr. Pilato has been a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) since 1999, theEuropean Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) since 2001, and the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery (SICC) since 2002.
