Dott.ssa Salis Paola

Dr. Paola Salis is Head of the Nephrology Unit at IRCCS ISMETT since January 2017.

She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1995 from the University of Sassari, where she also specialized in Nephrology. She was subsequently a visiting physician at the Renal Unit of Middlesex Hospital, affiliated with the University College London. In 2004, she expanded her expertise with visiting physician programs at Johns Hopkins Transplant Center in Baltimore and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with a particular focus on ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation.

She joined IRCCS ISMETT in 2000, contributing to the establishment and growth of its deceased-donor and living-donor kidney transplant programs. She is also actively involved in quality improvement initiatives, particularly those related to Joint Commission International accreditation.

Her primary clinical interests include living-donor and ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation, kidney failure in liver, heart, and lung transplant recipients, and acute kidney injury in hospitalized patients.
